MEET THE TEAM
BRIAN AND JEN SMITH, OWNERS
Brian and Jen bought Gig Harbor Auto Repair in 2008, and they've truly enjoyed making it their own and watching it grow.
Brian has been in the industry since 1980, and continues to experience the exponential changes in automotive technology. Jen jumped into the business with both feet, and is in charge of everything from bookkeeping to landscaping. The team says Jen is their favorite, because she signs their checks. Brian and Jen live in Gig Harbor and have raised their kids here. They enjoy time with the kids, movies, books, trips to Jen’s folks place in Winthrop, and golf (well, Brian enjoys golf, Jen enjoys laughing at him).
DION, MASTER TECHNICIAN
Dion joined us in 2014, hit the ground running, and has proven to be a wonderful and highly capable addition to the GHAS family. He’s been in the industry since 1988, became ASE certified in 1991, and achieved his ASE Master certification after he joined us. Working on cars is in Dion’s blood - he owned and worked on his first car before he was old enough to get his license, and when you watch him, it’s obvious he’s passionate about his craft. He lives in Port Orchard with his wife Karrie and their sons Darle and Darren, who are both in college – needless to say, Dion appreciates your patronage! He enjoys time with his family, camping, Frisbee golf, Christian concerts, volunteering at his church, and, you guessed it – working on cars.
ZACH, CUSTOMER SERVICE DIRECTOR/FACILITIES MANAGER/IT DIRECTOR
Zach joined us in 2021 as a shuttle driver and shop assistant. He has grown into a great asset for the shop, and for our customers. Not only does he manage his original duties, but he has also taken on service advisor duties at the front counter when we need an extra hand. Turns out, he’s really good at it! He’s got a great sense of humor and is incredibly knowledgeable about anything automotive. When he’s not at work with us, you may find him working on his 1989 Corvette, or trying to make a Frankenstein computer run Windows on Linux. We have no idea what that means, but it sounds pretty cool! Zach came to us from the mid-west, and now he and his wife Madelyn have made Gig Harbor their home.
ROB, SERVICE ADVISOR
Rob is the guy who takes all the tech-speak from the guys and translates it into language and terminology anyone can understand. When Mason or Dion tell him “Diagnostic fault codes indicate a cylinder 3 misfire condition and during testing lab scope waveforms show a definitive secondary ignition system performance issue”, he’ll be able to tell you, “Your six-cylinder engine is only running on five. That’s why it’s running rough, and a new ignition coil will fix you up”. Rob has been in the automotive industry for a long time, and over the years he always struck us as someone who would be a great fit for us. The planets lined up in early 2024 when he joined our team and took over the Service Advisor position at GHAS. It became apparent immediately that we were right about him. He jumped in feet first, and hasn’t looked back! We strive for a relationship-based dynamic with our customers, and he has proven himself to be a natural. Rob and his wife Aimee live in Port Orchard where they enjoy spending time working on the house and yard, hanging out with their grandkids, and rooting for the Seahawks. He’s also our resident “dad joke” pipeline – he’s got a new one every day!
MASON, TECHNICIAN
Mason joined our GHAS family in 2019. He has proven himself to be an excellent tech with extremely high quality control standards. He has a strong background in the racing world, and has built and worked on cars for everyday folks who want to go fast, and some celebrities too. If you can get him to tell you some of his stories from back in the day, you better buckle up! One of the things we appreciate most about him is that his real passion is for his family. He and his wife Diana are fantastic and dedicated parents to their two kiddos. Mason keeps us on our toes with his sense of humor – he’s a really funny guy! When he’s not cracking us up, at work, you might find him working on his Mustang (one of his other passions). We are incredibly fortunate to have him on our team!
